Pre School

All of those earlier experiences are built on in our pre-school class, and learning is continued via child-initiated play. We continue to follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) by focusing on each child’s individual interests in order to ensure that they develop their skills with confidence and a good attitude toward learning. Our pre-school is light and airy, and children can freely move inside and outside, taking use of our covered outdoor classroom. Individual and group projects encourage targeted learning in many areas of learning and development. Our ladybirds like mixing their own paints, making their own snacks, and taking on responsibilities such as dishwashing, mealtime assistance, and safety inspections!

Individual growth of children is still assessed and shared with parents by their key person. When it comes time for our children to start school, they are fully supported. We develop a variety of abilities that will be needed in the future, such as toileting and dressing independently. Children have been setting the groundwork for their trip to school throughout their time at nursery. We continue to foster confident communication in pre-school by introducing prolonged listening and attention periods, refining gross and fine motor physical abilities in preparation for reading and writing, and introducing extended listening and attention periods. We collaborate with receiving schools, and students from such schools are welcome to come to visit us to meet new classmates. We communicate information about individual children with parental permission to ensure a smooth transition, and our staff team is available to address any parental inquiries.
